A unit planning is an outline of what should be taught in a given period, such as a week, a month, a term or a year
The Unit Planning/Scheme of Work is done every year, BEFORE THE START OF NEW ACADEMIC YEAR (in holidays).
The main activities of the Scheme of Work include:
a) Checking the number of available periods in the academic year (term by term)
b) Writing out the Key Unit Competency
c) Identifying and arranging lessons
d) Grouping similar lessons which will facilitate to reach one objective (general objective)
e) Writing learning general objectives for each bunch of lessons
f) Time allocation
g) Identifying methods and evaluation procedures within the unit in order to plan in advance for learning materials and teaching aids
h) Identifying instructional resources as well as relevant references for each lesson within the unit
